What is CERT?

CERT stands for the Choices Emergency Response Team. It is a no-charge program for all people living in Morgan, Johnson and Shelby who are experiencing a behavioral health crisis, emotional distress, or substance use. Our trained team of peer support specialists comes to you- at home, in the community, or another safe place- to help calm the crisis and connect you with support.

We respond within an hour of the call and provide follow up for up to 60 days. You define the crisis. If it feels like a crisis to you, then call us at 463-252-3765.

Anyone can make a referral to the CERT Team, including individuals who are currently struggling with mental health and/or substance use, loved ones who are unsure how to help during these times of crisis.

We work with individuals of all ages in the following Indiana counties: Morgan, Johnson, and Shelby.

We provide an assessment for the individual and family within 60 minutes.

Choices Emergency Response Team (CERT)

This multidisciplinary team of specialists is funded by the Division of Mental Health and Addiction (DMHA). The team is available 24/7 to respond to individuals and families experiencing a mental health and/or substance use crisis.

Our goal is to help stabilize the individual and families and then partner with local communities to build a network of supports.

Call if you or someone you know is:

Feeling overwhelmed, very sad, or hopeless.
Talking about self-harm or hurting someone else.
Showing extreme anger or fear.
Having a hard time coping at home, school, or with friends.
Behaving in ways that seem unsafe or very out of character.
Struggling with substance use and don’t know where to get help.
